Position title
(Ref: 278) Support Worker – Caerphilly
Description

I’m an 19-year-old male who sustained a brain injury as a baby, I’m a wheelchair user and have complex behavioural, cognitive, and physical needs. I’m described by the people who know me best as ‘a real character’, funny, cheeky and determined.  I’m a sociable, young man with a great sense of humour, but can get very anxious when trying new things or going to new places, it can take me a little while to get used to new people.  When I get anxious, I don’t always react in the right way, but when I’m put at ease, I can be very good company.

Responsibilities

I need help with personal care and transfers, but my physiotherapist and current Support Workers are helping me to get stronger and to learn new skills. I would like support to access community facilities or to experience social and leisure activities, engage in therapy, and to further develop my life skills.  Whilst I like trips out, I also enjoy my time at home doing things such as playing games like bingo, singing Karaoke and anything food related. Although I need a lot of support, I love being as independent as possible and I enjoy helping with household tasks and food preparation which I would like to develop further.

I am looking for an enthusiastic, fun, patient, and reliable support team to help me to manage my personal care and to engage as independently as possible, in the activities I love. You will need to be calm and patient under pressure and be able to apply a consistent approach and work well as a team.

A full induction and training will be provided.   This role is subject to an Enhanced level DBS check.

To join me as a Support Worker you will: -

  • Be able to drive and have use of a car.
